Consider/Approve Amendment to Board Policy #5.117 – Procedure for Granting Tenure |

Background Information: The Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) has recommended a change to Board Policy #5.117 – Procedure for Granting Tenure, and this change reflects the latest legislative action. The Board’s current policy is included for your reference. Simply stated, the Legislature changed the date from April 15 to May 15 as to when a teacher must be recommended for tenure or when the teacher must be given notice that he/she is not being recommended for tenure. The only change to the policy strikes the word “April” and replaces with the word “May” on line 24. Staff Recommendation: I agree with the above-noted amendment to Board Policy #5.117 and recommend approval on first reading. |
